The SEC is probing the fight for control of TRE.

TRE has voluntarily supplied the Securities and Exchange Commission with documents in connection with the investigation, according to John Olson, a company attorney in Washington. Among other things, the SEC wants to know what part the investment firms of Drexel Burnham Lambert and Jefferies & Co. played in last year's battle for control of the Los Angeles-based maker of aerospace, marine and home products, published reports stated. TRE eventually agreed to be acquired by Aluminum Co. of America to head off a proxy fight led by television producer Burt Sugarman.
