San Jose police officers posing as bikers swapped stolen goods for drugs at an auto body shop and led detectives to the largest methamphetamine bust in the city’s history. Police confiscated 21 pounds of illicit methamphetamine with a street value of nearly $1 million at a home in the Alum Rock district. Lt. Tim Skalland said undercover officers for several months sold stolen goods at the Auto Zone body shop, and when they discovered drugs were apparently also being sold from the shop, the officers began swapping stolen goods for drugs. Four people were arrested, Skalland said, but suspected ringleader Nickolas Lara remains at large.
