Howard Baker, Nancy Reagan

One of the reasons why I love this country is that someone like Nancy Reagan, the symbol of husband adoration, has feminist women like me rallying around her at a time when she is being attacked by the male Establishment as being an “unelected, meddler in the democratic process.”

Henry A. Kissinger was never elected secretary of state, and I can’t remember voting for Don Regan, the members of the Supreme Court, or Caspar W. Weinberger and the crew at the Pentagon. Oliver North was certainly not elected, though rumor has it a junta is waiting for him somewhere in Central America.

What are we really talking about here? We’re talking about the fear of women in the “loop.” The “loop” is the policy-making procedure, which includes male opinion, the so-called “democratic process,” which is anything but democratic, and in the case of the Iran-scam is not even a process but a bunch of guys who have a terminal James Bond problem.

It seems to me, that since men are not appointing women to high positions, but they do marry women whom they depend on for advice, those men who attack Nancy Reagan are hypocrites.

Keep meddling, Nancy, maybe we’ll get an arms control agreement. Who cares if you did it for public relations. All of the “right” reasons haven’t worked.
