Lendl, McEnroe Meet at Forum Tonight

Ivan Lendl, who lost to fellow Czech Miloslav Mecir in the final of the International Players Championships Sunday afternoon in Key Biscayne, Fla., will play John McEnroe in the Michelin Tennis Challenge tonight at the Forum.

The meeting is between the present No. 1, Lendl, and the former No. 1, McEnroe, who is now No. 11 in the world, according to the recent rankings.

Both have played a limited schedule thus far in 1987. Lendl played in the Australian Open, then skipped the next few tournaments before the Players International Championships. McEnroe missed the Australian Open with a back injury, then played at tour stops in Philadelphia and Memphis. At Philadelphia, he lost to Tim Mayotte in the final, and was defeated by Johan Kriek in the round of 16 at Memphis.
