Phyllis B. Carroll, Badham’s Mother-in-Law, Dies in Hawaii

Mrs. Phyllis B. Carroll, mother of Anne Badham and mother-in-law of Rep. Robert E. Badham (R-Newport Beach), died in Hawaii after a heart attack, relatives said Monday.

Mrs. Carroll, 69, was stricken Feb. 27 during dinner at a hotel in Maui and did not regain consciousness before her death on March 2, relatives said. Private memorial services were held in Maui.

At the time of her heart attack, Mrs. Carroll and her husband, Richard, were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Hawaii.

A native of Elgin, Ill., Mrs. Carroll moved to California with her family in 1920. She had lived in Orange County for 45 years, residing in Newport Beach, Tustin and most recently in Santa Ana.

In addition to her husband and Anne Badham, Mrs. Carroll is survived by another daughter, Candace Snyder of Reno; a son, R. David Carroll of Fallbrook; a sister, Ethlyn Gaylord of San Gabriel; an aunt, Lola Rantz of Pasadena, and four grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.

The family has suggested that those who wish to make donations in Mrs. Carroll’s memory do so to the American Heart Assn.
