Texaco said the management employees in its exploration division in Los Angeles and Bakersfield will be transferred to Denver, offered jobs in other divisions or given early retirement. The company called it a consolidation prompted by the recent downturn in oil exploration. Texaco said its non-management work force of 1,600 in Kern County, where the company has its largest California production operations, will not be affected.
