Whittier : Schools Chief to Be Named
When they meet tonight, trustees of the Whittier Union High School District will be asked to appoint Lee Eastwood superintendent and approve a contract setting his salary.
Eastwood, 46, is expected to replace Supt. Norman B. Eisen when he retires July 1 after 36 years with the school district.
Board member Harward A. Stearns, an attorney, is writing Eastwood’s contract. Stearns and Eastwood refused to disclose the terms. Eisen earns $86,031 a year.
Eastwood’s appointment already has received tentative approval from the board, Stearns said.
The current assistant superintendent of business and operations for the Huntington Beach Union High School District, Eastwood was selected from a field of more than 80 candidates. He has a doctorate in educational administration and curriculum, and his wife, Laurie, is principal of Murphy Ranch School in the East Whittier City School District.
