Gridlock

Share

Now that we hear so much talk about the dreaded gridlock of our streets, and now that we have begun doing something about it (namely, the “No Right Turn, 3 to 6 p.m.” signs at corners like 7th and Broadway, downtown), it’s time to consider the one measure that would do the most to eliminate gridlock. It’s really very simple. Crack down on drivers who are in an intersection when the light turns red.

There is no reason to enter an intersection when there is not enough room ahead to allow your car to clear it. Substantial fines would keep those lanes clear, I’ll bet.
