A Burbank man being held in the Glendale Police Department jail on suspicion of burglary hanged himself in his cell Thursday, authorities said.

Michael R. Scott, 33, was discovered by jailers at 7 p.m., less than four hours after he had been booked into the jail, Glendale Police Sgt. Dean Durand said Friday. Jailers last saw him alive about an hour before he was found, he said.

Durand said Scott tied one end of a shirt around his neck and the other end around the cell bars.

Scott had been arrested earlier in the day with his wife and another man, Nikola Rodolich, 26, for allegedly stealing goods from the Nordstrom department store, Durand said.

Lorraine Scott and Rodolich were still in custody Friday, he said.
