Tustin : Outdoor Science Schools Used by 100,000 Students
Two sixth-grade students in the Tustin Unified School District have been honored as being jointly representative of the 100,000th student making use of the county Outdoor Science Schools.
The two students, Greg White and Danielle Miller, both 11 years old and both from Thorman Elementary School, received certificates. Their teachers, Jody Dietzel and Gary Frost, also were honored during ceremonies at the county Board of Education meeting Thursday morning.
Nat Lamm, county Department of Education administrator for special events, noted that a boy and a girl student were picked “to be jointly and symbolically representative” of the 100,000 students who have made use of the outdoor science facilities. Students go to classes in the outdoor facilities to learn about botany, astronomy, natural history and environmental science. The Outdoor Science Schools are maintained by the county Department of Education.
