Hotel Discount Rates

Inter-Continental Hotels is offering a 50% discount for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights to guests who pay regular rates for three consecutive weekday nights, Monday through Thursday, at any of its four hotels in London.

The half-price weekend offer can be used either before or after the weekday stay, but the stay has to be at the same hotel. The four properties involved are the May Fair Inter-Continental, Britannia Inter-Continental, Inter-Continental London and the Portman Inter-Continental.

A group of Louisiana tour operators, in conjunction with the Louisiana Office of Tourism, have created a “Louisiana Purchase” program for 1987. You can get “Lagniappe Dollars” or discount coupons usable at sightseeing attractions and restaurants through the purchase of assorted packages.

Ten of these special “dollars” are provided per night per person. Accordingly, a couple booking two nights would get $40 worth of the coupons. There is a two-night minimum to qualify for the “Lagniappe Dollars.”

The packages may not be available during certain periods such as the Mardi Gras and the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans or during other fairs and festivals in other parts of the state. Contact travel agents for more information.

Royal Jordanian Airline is offering a free Kemwel rental car with unlimited mileage in either Amsterdam or Vienna for one week to two full-fare round-trip transatlantic passengers. The offer is based on at least two people traveling together, and all car travel must be completed before March 31. Reservations for the car must be made at least 10 days before departure from LAX.

Solo travelers can get the rental car for $50. Rentals have to begin and end at the same station to avoid drop-off charges.

Under the airline’s twin fare offer, full-fare, round-trip passengers to Vienna, Amsterdam, Middle or Far East can get a second ticket gratis (a rental car is available for $50 a week). Tickets under the twin fare promotion must be bought by May 31, with travel also starting by that date. You have up to Aug. 31 for the return flights.
