Accident Cuts Power to Sherman Oaks Homes

About 50 Sherman Oaks homes were in the dark Monday for two hours after a private construction crew inadvertently knocked down electrical wires, a Department of Water and Power spokesman said.
Walter Zeisl, a DWP spokesman, said the blackout occurred at 7:30 a.m. when a construction crew working near Encanto and Las Cruces Drives knocked down the power lines. The incident affected homes bordered by Vista Boulevard on the north, Sherview Drive on the south, Stone Canyon Avenue on the east and the San Diego Freeway on the west.
