A former Illinois state senator and 10 other people were accused in federal indictments of corruption in Chicago’s licensing and inspection units. Former state Sen. Edward Nedza was charged with racketeering, mail fraud, extortion and filing false-income tax returns. Nedza is accused of forcing businessman Leonard Kraus to accept former Chicago Alderman Chester Kuta and a third public official as partners in a flea market, and then extorting payments from Kraus in connection with the business.
