FRANKFURT, West Germany — Bernhard Grzimek, a West German zoologist who gained international prominence with books and movies on East African wildlife, died while watching a circus show. He was 77 and died Friday of a heart attack, police said.
In 1960, Grzimek won an Academy Award for best documentary for his movie “Serengeti Must Not Die,” which featured East African wildlife. A book of the same title was translated into 36 languages.
