Parking Rates Hiked in North Hollywood

Share

It soon will cost more to park on the streets in parts of North Hollywood.

The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved raising the hourly parking-meter rate from 10 cents to 25 cents for 795 meters in a 25-square-block area of North Hollywood. A nickel will now buy 12 minutes of parking instead of 24, and a dime will provide 24 minutes instead of an hour.

The City Council also approved, 11 to 0, the installation of 200 additional parking meters in areas designated by merchants, said Bill Gilson, a spokesman for Councilman John Ferraro, who represents the area.

The meters are located in the area bounded by Burbank Boulevard on the north, the Los Angeles River on the south, Tujunga Boulevard on the west and Cahuenga Boulevard on the east.

The Department of Transportation will have completed the meter changes and installations by the time the law takes effect in one month, Gilson said.

The money will go to the city’s Department of Transportation. The increase is designed to raise revenues, Gilson said.
