Four valuable, 15-foot-by-10-foot Renaissance tapestries have been reported stolen from San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral, the vice dean of the Nob Hill landmark said. The Rev. Michael Merriman said the tapestries, which had been a gift to the cathedral, were believed to have been taken late last Thursday. There was no estimate of the value of the tapestries. Police speculated that the thief or thieves hid in the Episcopal cathedral until closing time and then escaped with the tapestries.
