“The Roots of Blood” (Mexico, 1979, 8:30 p.m., Barnsdall). A political tract concerning Mexican activists who organize against the oppressive conditions in a local clothing factory. Aided by a former local--a Harvard law school graduate who’s temporarily shucked off his heritage--they fight the good fight against formidable odds. Writer-director Jesus Salvador Trevino draws from familiar cliches, creating an unconvincing portrait of altruistic crusaders and loutish bosses.
