Buena Park : Youth Killed, Passenger Injured as Car Flips
A teen-ager was killed and a passenger in his car injured when their auto went out of control and flipped over Saturday while turning into traffic on La Palma Avenue from the Buena Park Mall, police said.
The car’s driver, Peter Aquino Fabros, 16, of Buena Park was pronounced dead on arrival at West Anaheim Humana Hospital, Lt. Dick Hofdahl said. The passenger, Jeff Ju Hong, 16, also of Buena Park, was treated for minor cuts and scrapes at the same hospital, then released, Hofdahl said.
Fabros “probably accelerated beyond the capabilities of his automobile” as he attempted to turn left in a light rain on wet pavement, Hofdahl said. He lost control of the car, struck a curb and the auto flipped over onto its top.
“The driver was ejected as the car rolled over,” Hofdahl said. “It appears the car landed on him.”
Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, Hofdahl said.
