Two weeks before the election, Mayor Harold Washington holds a 3-1 lead over his closest contender in the four-way mayoral race, according to a poll released Sunday. The poll results appear to reinforce predictions that the three challengers, all of whom are white, will split the vote against the city’s first black mayor. Washington, the Democratic Party candidate, was the first choice among 52% of those queried in the Chicago Tribune poll.
