Boston subway riders will now be getting culture with their commute. The city spent $175,000 hiring 21 artists and performers to serve up some creative diversions to expected delays and inconveniences. Among them: a musical saw player, a poet who will interview and write a short poem for commuters she interviews, Brazilian music and dance, and tap dancing. “This is our way of saying ‘sorry for the inconvenience,” said Peter Calceterra, construction projects manager for the city’s transit authority.
