Shamrock Buys Majority Share of Software Firm

Shamrock Holdings Inc. reported that it has acquired control of DBMS Inc., a computer software company in Naperville, Ill., that had $22 million in sales in 1986.

Shamrock bought 575,000 shares of DBMS preferred stock for an undisclosed amount from a group of investors, along with options and votings rights that were held by Raymond J. Nawara, a former DBMS executive vice president. The purchases give Shamrock 53% voting control of DBMS.

Nawara was named DBMS president as well as a member of the board of directors. Three Shamrock executives--Stanley Gold, president, and R. Rudolph Reinfrank and Robert Moskowitz, both vice presidents--were named directors of DBMS.

Shamrock, based in Burbank, is owned by the family of Roy E. Disney, nephew of the late Walt Disney.
