It took two overtime periods and a five-kick shoot-out, but the California Kickers finally outlasted the Seattle Storm, 2-1, before a crowd of approximately 800 at North Campus Stadium in Northridge on Sunday night.

California, 2-1 in the Western Soccer Alliance, won the game on midfielder Richie Torres’ kick in the shoot-out. A shoot-out under WSA rules consists of five penalty kicks for each side. The Kickers converted three of their attempts, with defender Steve Sengelman and midfielder Alberto Bru accounting for the other two. Kicker goalie David Jacques stopped three of Seattle’s five tries.
