The recent Oprah Winfrey show concerning the sensitive area of teen-age suicide was necessary. We saw great personal anguish combined with newfound insight and courage among the youths and families interviewed. Unfortunately, a few young people in the audience, and possibly some viewers as well, weren’t completely convinced that their lives were “worth living.” So did they get the reassurance they needed from the commercial about funeral services that was plugged in the middle of the show? That was not only unnecessary, but very insensitive to all those concerned.
