Traffic Problems

Share

I find John Goldman’s article (March 14) on Manhattan’s traffic problems amusing. Why the concern for Manhattan? All the problems listed in his article exist in downtown Los Angeles, three blocks from The Times building. You don’t need the opinion of 800,000 Auto Club members. I’m a daily witness to:

--An increase in building construction and remodeling that clogs streets with equipment.

--Too few traffic control agents to ensure order at intersections to control cars and pedestrians.

--All-day parking in restricted parking zones by construction craftsmen.

--The presence of more buses operated by aggressive drivers.

--Street excavations that are not monitored.

--All the violations listed, red-light running, U-turns in mid-block and intersections.

--Pedestrian jaywalking and ignoring traffic signals in downtown Los Angeles.
