Iraq said its aircraft twice attacked the pipeline network pumping oil to Iran’s main oil terminal at Kharg Island in the northern Persian Gulf. “Large numbers of our warplanes attacked the installations where the pipelines . . . pump oil from Ganaveh to Kharg Island, turning them to rubble and setting them ablaze,” a military spokesman said. Iraq said its planes also hit an oil field and an Iranian gunboat. The two nations have been at war for 6 1/2 years.
