Ireland’s film censor banned “Personal Services,” a film about the exploits of Cynthia Payne, a London woman nicknamed “Madame Cyn” who was acquitted last month of controlling prostitutes. Censor Sheamus Smith gave no reason for the ban Sunday. The distributors said the film, directed by ex-Monty Pythoner Terry Jones and made with Payne’s full approval, could still be rented at video shops when released for private showing. Since 1980, Ireland has banned three other films--Ken Russell’s “Crimes of Passion” and the Monty Python comedies “Life of Brian” and “The Meaning of Life,” both of which were also directed by Jones.
