Man Indicted in Alleged Plot to Sell Explosives
A Burbank man Friday became the fourth person indicted in an alleged plot to sell drugs and explosives that resulted in evacuation of a Woodland Hills high school building and temporary closing of the Ventura Freeway last December.
A federal grand jury returned a 15-count indictment charging Donald Frederick Ewald, 40, with conspiracy to possess and transfer military explosives, blasting caps, silencer-equipped firearms and 100 grams of the drug PCP from a car parked at Taft High School last Dec. 10.
Three other men--John Robert Sargent of Reseda, Edward Steven Pajak of Tujunga and Danny Roman of Olancha--were also indicted in the same case. Sargent and Roman have pleaded guilty and face sentencing May 4. Pajak’s trial is scheduled to begin April 14.
The indictment against Ewald also charged him with being a convicted felon in possession of firearms and with interstate cocaine trafficking. He is scheduled for arraignment Monday before U.S. District Judge A. Wallace Tashima.
