GM Recalls 160,000 Cars, Trucks for Repairs

General Motors Corp. is recalling 160,000 cars and trucks to correct three separate safety problems, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced.

The vehicles recalled are 65,000 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier cars for a potentially faulty accelerator control cable, 9,000 1985-86 Chevrolet and GMC C-7 and C-70 trucks for loosened bracket bolts in a power steering assembly and 86,000 1984 through 1986 Chevrolet and GMC C-30 and C-35 trucks for failure of a fuel stem to remain intact during a 30-m.p.h. barrier crash test.

No accidents or injuries tied to the problems have been reported, the agency announced Friday.
