The United States is sending about 600 sophisticated Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, including some of a more accurate later model, to seven Afghan rebel groups, Reagan Administration and other sources said. The Washington Post reported that the sudden increase in numbers, and looser procedures on who gets them, is causing worry that the missiles may fall into the hands of terrorists. Sen. Dennis DeConcini (D-Ariz.), who said he has received a classified report from Congress’ General Accounting Office, said, “It gives me great concern, but I can’t go into it.”
