Former baseball manager Billy Martin says he is for mandatory drug testing of players and says that repeat violators should be barred from the game and lose their salaries and pension.
Martin, in an interview in May’s issue of Penthouse magazine, also said he thought the players who testified at the 1985 Pittsburgh drug trials were not penalized severely enough.
Asked if he thought those players “got off easy,” Martin said, “Yes. I don’t believe in immunity. I think that’s wrong. In other words, if I’m a squealer, you’re going to give me immunity? Law enforcement should get it done right and stop the immunity.”
