Mantle Suffers Chest Pains, but Doctors Say It Isn’t Heart Attack
Mickey Mantle was taken to a hospital in Irving, Tex., with chest pains Monday, but doctors said that the former New York Yankee star had not suffered a heart attack.
Ramona Bevier, spokeswoman for Irving Community Hospital, said that Mantle was being held for observation and was listed in fair condition.
Mantle, 55, complained of chest pains and shortness of breath Sunday night during a flight from New York to his home in Dallas, officials at Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport said.
He was met at the airport and taken by paramedics to the suburban Dallas hospital.
