Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp. posted a drop in profit for the first quarter of 1987, despite increased sales. A spokesman said the firm was pleased with its strong performance of Pratt & Whitney and Industrial Systems, Norden’s return to profitability and the substantial progress made at Hamilton Standard. Hamilton is expected to return to profitability in the second quarter of 1987, the spokesman added. Also, Pratt & Whitney increased its market share in the latest fighter engine competition, he said.
