Smithsonian Official Picked to Be Librarian of Congress

WASHINGTON —
President Reagan intends to nominate historian and scholar James Billington, head of the Smithsonian Institution’s Woodrow Wilson Center, as the next librarian of Congress, an aide to Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said Wednesday.
