Share

Former Rep. George Hansen (R-Ida.) fasted for the fifth day in a row at the Alexandria, Va., jail to protest his arrest by federal agents last Wednesday in Omaha, Neb., on a parole violation. Hansen, calling himself “a political prisoner,” said in a telephone interview he is being harassed for his stands against the Internal Revenue Service and federal law enforcement officials. Hansen, 57, served seven House terms until his conviction in 1984 on federal ethics laws violations. He was paroled in December after serving six months.
