Assistant Sheriff Robert A. Edmonds, a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department since 1961, was named undersheriff, replacing Theodore H. Von Minden, who is retiring July 1. In his new role, Edmonds, 48, will serve as the No. 2 man in the 6,600-member Sheriff’s Department. Replacing Edmonds as one of the department’s two assistant sheriffs will be Administrative Division Chief Richard L. Foreman, 53. Edmonds lives in Cerritos, Foreman in Pasadena.
