Local News in Brief : Robber Takes $9,000 From Hardware Store
An armed robber wearing a mask took about $9,000 Tuesday from a Simi Valley hardware store, the Simi Valley Police Department reported.
The robber apparently hid in the Builders Discount store at 131 W. Easy St. until two store managers prepared for closing shortly before 9 p.m., Lt. Mark Layhew said.
No customers were inside when the man, who was armed with a small handgun, confronted the managers, tied one up and ordered the other to hand over the cash, Layhew said.
He then tied up the second manager and fled with the money, the lieutenant said. No shots were fired and no one was hurt, Layhew said.
