OFF IN NICARAGUA

Share

When I first heard that a film about America’s initial foray into Nicaragua was in the works, I thought for sure that it would be one more example of a worthwhile topic being lost among the trappings of modern Hollywood cinema (“Hollywood Invades Nicaragua,” by Patrick Goldstein, April 19).

However, after reading Goldstein’s article on director Alex Cox’s attempt in “Walker” to illustrate the tragic history of U.S. intervention in Nicaragua, I was relieved. Cox appears to recognize the value of meaningful film making, and I applaud his effort to prevent some future Oliver Stone from re-creating his experiences in yet another immoral chapter of American militarism.

Make movies in Nicaragua--not war!
