The Nation : Writers Accept ABC Pact
Writers Guild of America members voted to end an 8-week-old strike against ABC by signing a contract that includes annual 3% raises, the union said. Members in New York and Washington voted 135 to 23 for the 35-month contract, said officials of the guild, which represents 175 writers and editors. A tentative settlement in the dispute, which centered on job security, was announced Thursday, nine days after a similar strike against CBS ended. An ABC spokesman said the recall of employees would begin immediately.
