That Showcase Season : From Claremont to Camarillo, the Annual Design Houses Are Open for Tours

Share

Each year, local designers around Southern California join forces to redecorate select older homes, which are then opened for tours. Proceeds from the tours benefit various charities. The Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee’s 23rd showcase home was built in 1916; it’s typical of many early California homes, incorporating aspects of several architectural styles. Situated on two acres, the 10,000-square-foot residence and its grounds have been completely redesigned by local interior and landscape designers. Above is a view of the guest bedroom, designed by Linda Merrifield Howard, ASID, of The Designing Women, La Canada Flintridge. All fabrics by Lee Jofa; furniture from Lee Jofa, Auerbach’s Custom Collections, Rattan Interiors and Scott Robinson; area rugs from Sewelson’s; flowers by Eiji’s. Proceeds from tours support the Los Angeles Philharmonic. At 700 Berkshire Road, La Canada Flintridge, the house is open to the public today through May 24; Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance tickets, $8; at the door $10.
