Profit and sales for Houston-based Compaq Computer Corp. in the first quarter reached their highest leveles ever during a quarterly period, according to a spokesman. Profit rose 142% and revenue increased 47%. The records posted were largely due to sales of the firm’s three newest industry-standard personal computers--the Compaq Portable III (tm), 12 Mhz models of the Compaq Deskpro 286 (r) and the Compaq Deskpro 386 (tm), the spokesman added.
