Special Gift

I had an experience the other day that reconfirmed the kindness of strangers that I thought I would share with your readers:

On our return home flight from Dallas, my 2-year-old son and I were lucky enough to be surrounded by the USC track team. Sammy is quite active, especially when asked to sit still. Every time he began to fuss, one of the track team members asked if he could hold him. They all gave him special attention, talked with him, and gave me a chance to relax and unwind.

I wasn’t able to thank them all personally, but their immediate, no hesitation, act of friendliness gave my son and me a special gift. I know that this world is filled with many kind and special people like those guys; it’s so nice to have it reconfirmed every once in a while. Good luck, USC, you are all champions to Sammy and me.
