Boston’s last elevated train line was replaced with the hum of a new subway that officials hope will bring prosperity to a declining neighborhood. The underground Orange Line, a $743-million, 4.7-mile subway project, officially opened for business, running through the city’s South End, Roxbury and Jamaica Plain sections.
