Industrialist Armand Hammer, in a spate of predictions, said a barrel of oil will cost $100 within five years, there will be another superpower summit and Sen. Albert Gore Jr. (D-Tenn.) “has as good a chance as anyone” for the White House. Hammer, 88, chairman of Occidental Petroleum Corp. who is sometimes called “the Kremlin’s favorite capitalist,” spoke to the National Press Club on U.S.-Soviet relations and later answered questions on several topics.
