A recount of ballots cast in Los Angeles’ 10th City Council District race failed to change the outcome of last month’s hotly contested election, City Clerk Elias Martinez said. Candidate Geneva Cox, who finished third in the primary, 461 votes behind second-place finisher Homer Broome Jr., had petitioned for the recount contending that an inaccurate tally cost her a spot in the June 2 runoff. However, Martinez said that a hand-count of 21,272 ballots still left Cox trailing Broome and first-place finisher Nate Holden.
