Southlanders Don’t Skirt the Length Issue

It’s a question discussed at length these days: Will skirts really inch their way back up to the level of the ‘60s?

To find how high they’ve gone so far, Fashion ’87 went looking for hemlines on the rise. What we found was a cautious testing of the waters by women who like their skirts short, but not that short.

Surrounded by an abundance of longer lengths, the knee-revealers do stand out as fashionably refreshing, especially when worn with the requisite companion pieces: a well-proportioned jacket, pretty pumps, opaque hosiery and a great pair of legs.
