Scott Brant Wins Speedway Event

Scott Brant of Costa Mesa won the handicap eight-lap main event of the weekly motorcycle speedway racing program at the Orange County fairground at Costa Mesa Friday night in front of 6,818.

The race was restarted after Brant was run over in a crash in the second turn of the first lap. Shawn McConnell of Brea finished second, Scott Brown of Garden Grove third and Mike Faria of Colton fourth.

Bobby Schwartz won the scratch main wire to wire for the second time in six weeks. Alan Christian of Huntington Beach was second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente third and Phil Collins of England was fourth.
