Rabbi Sheldon Dorph has been appointed executive director of the Pacific Southwest Region of United Synagogue of America. Over the past 15 years, he has served as principal of Los Angeles Hebrew High School and as founding headmaster of the Golda Meir School. After earning his rabbinic ordination at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, he received a doctorate in education at Teachers College of Columbia University. His wife, Gail, is director of the master of arts in education program at the University of Judaism. The Pacific Southwest Region represents 59 Conservative synagogues throughout Southern California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Hawaii. Its offices are at the University of Judaism on Mulholland Drive.
