ON THE TOWN: If the Dodgers are looking to beef up their ailing bullpen, they should send some scouts up to San Francisco--in particular, to the Cow Palace, where a couple of strong arms made life difficult for Billy Idol during his Monday night show there. According to Pop Eye roving correspondent Chris Baker, Idol had only been on stage for about 10 minutes when he got hit in the face with a well-aimed tennis shoe. After complaining vociferously, Idol got bopped in the head a second time. This prompted an angry, obscenity-filled tirade from Idol, who threatened to dive into the audience and “fight you (expletives deleted)!” Idol was so peeved by the rowdy crowd reaction that he cut short the concert after playing an abbreviated encore.
