Radical attorney William Kunstler, film maker Emile DeAntonio and hundreds of other activists and artists issued a call for the formation of a new grass-roots organization to resist government policy. Kunstler, the lawyer who defended the Chicago Seven in 1969, said there has been a recent “significant shift in the wind in this country” and called on Americans to give a “push to the wave of discontent.” He was joined at a New York news conference by DeAntonio, who has made controversial films about the Army-McCarthy hearings and the Vietnam War.
