Advo-System Inc., a Windsor, Conn.-based direct mail marketing firm, claimed in a federal suit filed in Hartford, Conn., that the New York Times Co. violated antitrust laws by encouraging a research company to triple the price of a readership survey Advo wanted to buy. Advo alleged that the newspaper instigated a price-fixing conspiracy in an effort to inhibit Advo’s ability to compete for advertising business.
